You've suffered fire, soot, or smoke damage in Pompano.  For over four decades, Paul Davis Restoration has been a leader in insurance restoration.  Our project managers are (IICRC) certified and have the expertise, experience, and above all, empathy for what you are going through.
At Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling in Pompano, we know how different materials react to in a fire.  We understand the steps to take to minimize the damage.  The most important thing is to take immediate action.  Soot is highly acidic, clean it off before it can cause permanent damage.  Our trained cleaning crews have the right tools and cleaning solutions.  We also expedite the restoration process because we know how to work with your insurance representative.  You need a restoration expert, not just as a remodeling or general contractor.  Your contractor needs to be able to communicate with your adjuster.  Usually there are surprises that come up during the project.  These are referred to as supplements.  Surprises can cause the project to come to a halt for an inexperienced contractor.  An insurance restoration contractor and your adjuster communicate regarding surprises and supplements to keep your project moving forward.
Before hiring a Public Adjuster in Pompano, give your insurance company an opportunity to settle your claim first.  Most insurance companies are eager to pay the correct amount.  Some insurance companies are not, but you can always hire a Public Adjuster at a later date.  Claims generally take much longer to settle when a PA is involved due a lenghty negotiation process.  Once you sign on with a PA, expect to receive the proper value of the claim, less the PA fee.  Also expect the restoration process to be delayed untill the claim is settled.  We often see this take over a year.  Too many times we hear, "I wish I never hired my PA, he is not doing a thing".

What can you do?  The following are steps to take before we arrive.  Your health and safety are more important than your possessions.  Do not take any unnecessary risks.

If you must turn off your water, take steps to prevent your plumbing and/or heating supply pipes from freezing.
  1. Report the damage to your insurance company right away.  Call your insurance companies 800 number or call your agent.
  2. If the power is not working and it is safe to do so, remove food from your refrigerator and freezer.  Spoiled food odor is usually impossible to remove.
  3. Maintain a list of all discarded items and keep receipts for any expenses you incur in protecting your property. Your insurance claim representative need this.  Photographs are critical..
  4. Be sure to give your insurance company a phone number where you can be reached if you relocate.

What can you  do help?  Timing is everything.  Take the following actions within the first three days!!!!
  • Do not use any electronics including stereo's, TV's, appliances, etc., until they have been checked by a technician. If you do not have electricity, empty your refrigerator and prop the doors open.
  • Vacuum your carpets with a HEPA vac.  The HEPA will prevent micro soot particles from being emitted back into the room.  Do not walk on carpet if possible. Don't use “do-it-yourself” home carpet cleaners.  Specialty cfire and soot leaners are available at cleaning supply stores.
  • Ceilings/Walls require specialy cleaning with what are called "chem sponges".  They are also available at specialty cleaning stores.  They are like giant erasers.  Wiping or washing ceilings or other absorbent surfaces with the wrong products will set the stain and make the odor permanent..
  • Close doors at affected areas to keep smoke odors from spreading to other areas of the home.
  • Do not eat food that was exposed to smoke, fumes can be toxic.  Also, dispose of canned goods that have been subjected to excessive heat.
  • Replace air conditioner filter if the AC was on.  Tape double pieces of cheesecloth over air registers with masking tape.  Have AC ducts cleaned and sealed right away!
  • If possible, have soft goods like upholstered furniture, clothes, rugs, and hanging drapes cleaned right away.
  • Bring pets to a friend, family member, or boarding facility.
  • Wash plants with mild soap and water.  Clean leaves on both sides.
  • Open windows and doors to ventilate.
